Affordable Thailand Holidays Half Day Tours

How do you spend the remainder of your arrival day when you've caught an early morning flight to Bangkok, Thailand? The remaining half-day is too precious to waste away by just resting inside the hotel, so why not spend what's left of the day by going on a short tour and getting acquainted with the sights of Bangkok?

Here are three options that are both enjoyable and entertaining as well, and near enough to be accomplished in half a day:

The Grand Palace. This is magnificent structure is no doubt one of the 'must-see' places here in Bangkok. Formerly serving as the official residence of the royal family, this set of buildings reflects the grandeur and splendor of royalty.

Although the Grand Palace is already visible by simply taking a boat ride by the Chao Phraya River, seeing it up close and exploring its interiors are well worth the half-day tour for tourists. There is, however, a strict dress code required when entering the Grand Palace, so be sure that you are dressed appropriately for the tour. For men, the prescribed dress code is long pants (no shorts) and decent shirt (no sandals). For women, sleeveless blouses are not allowed.

Wat Arun. There are many temples in Thailand, so what makes this one special? Known as 'Temple of Dawn,' this temple is probably one of the most prominent tourist attractions (aside from the Grand Palace) along the Chao Phraya River.

Rising majestically into the sky, this temple is an amazing work of art. The lofty towers that reach up to the heavens are fully decorated with intricately designed tiles. The temple is accessible up to a certain extent, so try climbing the steep way for a panoramic view of the river. Give it a go!

Snake Farm, Crocodile Farm, and Elephant Show. If you need an adrenaline rush, head to one of these three places. Observe how the venom is milked from the snakes. If you're daring enough, you can also hold a snake! As for crocodiles, watch the daredevil stunts of the locals as they risk their necks by placing it near a crocodile's mouth and razor-sharp teeth!

However, if the snake or the crocodile is too much for you, then maybe the elephants will do the trick! Watch them entertain you with their funny dances, basketball and soccer games. If you want an interactive experience, you can go for a ride on an elephant's back, feed them, or play with them.

Elephants are taught a variety of tricks, and if you're adventurous enough, you can try lying on the ground and have an elephant walk over you (and hope you don't get trampled!)
